The University of Macau (UM) recently held a forum on “Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) and the Development of Regional Supply Chain, Logistics and Transportation”. Dr Anthony Lau was the keynote speaker at the forum.

Representatives from government departments, the regional supply chain, logistics and transportation industries, the academic circle, and other non-government departments in Macao, Hong Kong, and Zhuhai attended the forum. Participants had in-depth discussions on six topics, namely the relationship between the HZMB and the economic development of the region (specifically Macao) and the future development trend; the challenges faced by the regional supply-chain and the logistics sector; Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macao’s co-development of a regional logistics hub by leveraging the HZMB; social communication and advocacy skills for mega infrastructure; integration of the transport networks of Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macao; and professional training and development in the fields of supply chain, logistics, and transport.

Prof Jacky So, dean of UM’s Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), and Dr Dorothy Chan, president of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT)International, each delivered an insightful presentation.

The forum was co-organised by UM’s Department of Accounting and Information Management, the Transport Bureau, and the CILT in Macao, with assistance from the Committee on the Development of the Logistics Industries in Macao.
