The 3rd Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Universities Accounting Business Knowledge Contest was successfully held on 24th May 2019 at the Macau Forum. The University of Macau Team Two won the second runner-up after an intense competition against outstanding university teams from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau.

The Competition was directed by the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of The People’s Government of Guangdong Province and was organized by the Council for the Promotion of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Cooperation, Macao Foundation, Union of Associations of Professional Accountants of Macau and TDM (Teledifusão de Macau, S.A.).

The Competition has been divided into a preliminary round and a final round. After the preliminary round, eight outstanding university teams from the following universities stood out to compete in the final round for championship: Jinan University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Sun Yat-sen University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, University of Macau, Macau University of Science and Technology and Macao Polytechnic Institute.

The University of Macau Team Two is composed of five FBA students majoring in Accounting: Ms. Ke Haiwei, Ms. Ng Hio I, Ms. Chen Jiexi, Ms. Si Wai Kit and Ms. Zhao Jiayi. Led by Team Leader Prof. Desmond Yuen and Supervisor Prof. Simon So from the Department of Accounting and Information Management of the Faculty of Business Administration, the UM Team Two showed exceptional performance and won the second runner-up in the final round of the competition.

The Competition aimed at cultivating and sharing of knowledge on the business environment, economy and laws of the Greater Bay Area among students, attracting more new blood to the accounting profession, as well as promoting integration of accounting professionals in the Greater Bay Area.
