Prof Jason Xiao, head of the Department of Accounting and Information Management, Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), University of Macau (UM), and Prof Wenxuan Hou at University of Edinburgh, have been appointed joint-editors of British Accounting Review (BAR). BAR is the flagship journal of the British Accounting and Finance Association (BAFA).
BAR’s long history can be traced back to 1969. It has since become a leading international journal that publishes cutting-edge research achievements in accounting and finance. By impact factor, the most recent ISI Journal Citation Report ranks it number 11 among 109 accounting and business finance journals and number 6 among accounting journals.
Prof Xiao is a well-known scholar in accounting. His main research interests are in accounting and corporate governance, and he has published articles in leading international accounting, finance, and management journals. He has been serving as BAR’s editorial board member since 2005. He is also an associate editor or editorial board member of several other major international journals, including Abacus, Accounting Forum, China Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Journal of International Accounting Research, and Nankai Business Review International. He also helped the Accounting Society of China create the China Journal of Accounting Studies and served as its joint founding editor. He is a leading researcher on Chinese accounting and has edited or is editing special issues in the area for the following international journals: Abacus, Accounting and Business Research, European Accounting Review, and Journal of Accounting and Public Policy.
Prof Xiao is a professor of accounting and head of the Department of Accounting and Information Systems in the FBA. His appointment as a joint-editor of BAR shows international recognition of the quality of accounting research at UM.
