1. Background information for the dual bachelor degree programme

The tourism and hospitality industry is one of the world’s most dynamic and rapidly evolving sectors, driven by globalization, technological innovation, and the growing demand for high‑quality travel experiences. As international tourism continues to expand, the industry requires professionals with strong business knowledge, cross-cultural awareness, and a global perspective.

To meet this demand and cultivate future‑ready talents, the University of Macau has partnered with Griffith University in Australia to establish a collaborative programme in tourism and hospitality management. This collaborative initiative provides students with the opportunity to study in two diverse academic environments, gain international exposure, and acquire industry‑relevant skills that prepare them for global career pathways.

  1. Objectives of the collaborative programme
  • Develop globally competitive talents who can contribute to the advancement of the tourism and hospitality sectors worldwide.
  • Equip students with fundamental knowledge in business, hospitality, and tourism, while providing in‑depth understanding of the tourism and hospitality landscape in Macao and Oceania.
  • Broaden students’ international horizons and prepare them with a global perspective to support their future academic and career development in a rapidly evolving industry.
  1. The collaborative programme framework
Target students Undergraduate students majoring in BSc in International Integrated Resort Management with Specialization in Convention and Hospitality Management at UM (One-way programme).
Duration Under the programme, registered UM Students will spend five semesters studying at UM, followed by four trimesters studying at Griffith. Each academic year consists of two semesters at UM and three trimesters at Griffith .
Application Eligibility The students should satisfy the minimum entry language requirements of Griffith when they apply for this collaborative programme. *Target Students details:

  • Students who were admitted in the academic year 2020/2021 onwards and are currently enrolled in the BSc in International Integrated Resort Management with Specialization in Convention and Hospitality Management; and
  • Students who are in good academic standing.

Will the department organize the briefing for the collaborative programme?
Answer: Yes, in each academic year, the department will inform the year one and year two eligible students for the briefing.

I have declared for the Gaming Management specialization for BSc in semester 1 of year 2, can I apply for this collaborative programme?
Answer: No, this collaborative programme only applies to students who specialize in Convention and Hospitality Management.

Do I still need to pay the tuition fee at UM when study at Griffith University?
Answer: No, you only need to pay the tuition fee at Griffith University.

What’s the criteria to select students for the collaborative programme?
Answer: The students have to fulfill all basic requirements. The selection committee in the department will interview the students and make the final decision.

If I do not adapt to the learning environment of Griffith University, can I give up the collaborative programme?
Answer: Yes, you can come back to UM to continue the BSc in International Integrated Resort Management programme. You will only obtain the BSc in International Integrated Resort Management degree from UM if you fulfill the graduation requirements. Kindly be reminded of the risk of delayed graduation.
