Student Handbook

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Business Administration Programme is research-oriented with an emphasis on the development of new theories and concepts in business disciplines, including:

  • Accounting
  • Business Analytics
  • Business Economics
  • Finance
  • Hospitality and Tourism Management
  • Integrated Resort and Gaming Management
  • Management
  • Marketing

The programme consists of:

  • Coursework study
  • Research and thesis component

Programme Intended Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the programme, students will be able to:

  • Develop a comprehensive knowledge of theory and methods in business disciplines;
  • Plan, organize, design, construct, and execute research to assess/test research questions and/or hypotheses;
  • Communicate their research clearly in both written and oral forms.

Class Arrangement

The programme will arrange for students to attend classes and conduct research on the main campus or at the University of Macau Science and Education Base in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.

Class and research arrangements will consider students’ preferences indicated in their applications. The supervisor and faculty will make the final decision, which will be communicated in the admission offer.  The faculty will notify the class schedules on a semester basis.

PhD Funding

Students are offered scholarships, assistantships, conference subsidies and other financial assistance, in addition to workshops and seminars opportunities so that students can engage in more academic exchange activities that are beneficial and related to their research studies. Through research collaboration with scholars from all over the world, students can bring their research skills to a new level.
