Biography of the speaker

Mr. Purpura has traded futures and options for 33 years. He became a member of COMEX in 1981 and has been an active participant in a wide variety of exchange functions and committees, including his years as a COMEX Governor. In 1987 he co-founded Great Lakes Metals, Inc. which became one of the largest brokers on COMEX. He was instrumental in bringing round-the-clock electronic trading to the COMEX Division metals. Customers included major bullion banks, fund managers and large professional traders. He has consulted for CME Group on metals trading and Asia strategies and conducted numerous trading seminars in Asia. Mr. Purpura has served as an international advisor to the Shanghai Gold Exchange. He is an active trader using proprietary methods in a variety of futures, physical and forex markets in both China and international markets. Mr. Purpura oversees macro strategies and risk management for the trading and brokerage units of his companies.
