FBA Lecture Series 079 “Information Technology Sociology & Research Implications in Tourism & Hospitality” was hosted by Prof. Soey Sut Ieng LEI, Assistant Professor in Integrated Resort and Tourism Management on November 9, 2023 and Prof. Dan Wang, was invited to deliver the seminar.
Dr. Dan Wang is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Hotel & Tourism Management, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. In this lecture, she demonstrated the great potential of integrating information technology sociology in tourism and hospitality research by sharing advanced research findings and practical examples. Prof. Dan Wang focused on how the information technology sociology research methodology has enabled in-depth analysis of consumer travel decisions and helps researchers to understand better the complex relationships between society, technology, and the tourism and hospitality industry as a whole. The content of her lecture provided participants with a fresh perspective to better analyze the impact of information technology on the tourism and hospitality industry.
At the end of the lecture, Prof. Dan Wang led the audience to look into the future of the field. They look forward to seeing more research in the field of tourism and hospitality with the help of sociological theories and methods of information technology, which will further promote the development and innovation of the industry.
