FBA Salon Series on Tourism+ 001: “From ChatGPT to Generative AI: What Should We Do as Tourism Scholars?” was hosted by Prof. Shannon Yi, Research Assistant Professor of the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management on September 6, 2023 and Prof. Faye Feier CHEN, was invited to deliver the seminar.
Prof. Faye Feier Chen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management at the University of Macau. Her research interests cover the areas of Consumer Behavior as well as Service Technology and Artificial Intelligence in the tourism and hospitality industry. In this seminar, Prof. Faye used the emerging ChatGPT as the main case, leading participants to analyze the current impact of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) in various industries from different perspectives, especially in the tourism industry. Meanwhile, she had an in-depth discussion with the students and teachers on how tourism scholars will view and utilize this emerging technology.
The successful organization of this academic salon has benefited both students and teachers present. It gave participants a deeper understanding of the current impact of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) on their work and life as well as its unlimited development prospects.
