Professor in Integrated Resort and Tourism Management

Dr. Wong is a professor of the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management at the University of Macau. He also worked as a professor and leading expert at the School of Tourism Management at Sun Yat-Sen University. He has involved in many consultancy projects including those funded by the China National Natural Science Foundation, China Administry of Education, The British Academy Research, Guangdong Administry of Education, Macau Foundation, Tencent, Macau Hotel Association, and more. He has a wide range of teaching and research interests especially in smart tourism and service, big data analytics, service marketing, and consumer behaviors, and research methods. He has taught courses in the areas of big data analytics, information systems, hotel management, MICE and event management, marketing, strategic management, statistics, research methods, and more.

Dr. Wong has numerous academic publications with more than 160 scholarly journal articles listed in SSCI. Among these articles, more than 100 are listed in JCR Q1, more than 80 are listed in ABS3 and ABS4, These journal articles appear in Tourism Management, Journal of Travel Research, Annals of Tourism Research, Journal of Business Research, International Journal of Hospitality Management, Journal of Sustainable Tourism, International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, Journal of Service Management, and more. He is an active reviewer for more than 20 leading journals and is serving on several editorial advisory boards including International Journal of Hospitality Management (coordinating editor), Tourism Management, Journal of Travel Research, Journal of Business Research, International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, Journal of Services Marketing,  Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Research, Journal of Travel & Tourism Marketing, and more. He is a recipient of many best paper awards in academic journals and conference proceedings including the Emerald Literate Highly Recommended Paper Award. At present, Professor Wong is listed as one of the leading scholars in the field of tourism/hospitality research, and ranks 4th among tourism/hospitality scholars working in universities in Greater China. He is also listed as one of the most cited Chinese researchers and ranks top 2% on citation in the field of tourism/hospitality in the world.
