Hosted by the Business Research and Training Center (BRTC) of the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) of the University of Macau, the workshop on the development of Macao’s financial industry was successfully held at the University of Macau today (November 4). The workshop, one of the series of ” Executive Development Program ” of the FBA, invited senior executives from the financial and banking sectors of Macao and academics to participate. The workshop aiming to explore the future development of the financial industry in Macao.
Guests attending the workshop included Li Wei, Deputy Director of Economic Affairs Department of Liason Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao S.A.R.; Vong Sin Man, Executive Director of Board of Directors of Monetary Authority of Macao; Ling Chen, the Vice President of Bank of Communications Macao Branch; Eric Chen, General Manager of Marketing Management Department of Luso International Banking Ltd.; Jia Runsong, Assistant Manager of Luso International Banking Ltd.; Marcia Guerreiro, International Desk Supervisor of Banco Nacional Ultramarino; Liu Fei, Vice General Manager of Chongwa (Macao) Financial Asset Exchange Co., Ltd.; Kathy Mok, Senior Manager of Chongwa (Macao) Financial Asset Exchange Co., Ltd.; professors and Ph.D. students of Department of Finance and Business Economics at University of Macau.
The welcome speech of workshop was delivered by Professor Chen Jinghan, Dean of the FBA, and presided over by Professor Kot Hung Wan, Coordinator of Finance Programme. Four guests were invited to speak in the workshop. The topic of Mr. Sam Tou, Executive Director of Banco Nacional Ultramarino, was “Development of Macau Financial Industry in the Banking Sector”; the topic of Mr. Shu Youjun, General Manager of Risk Management Department of Bank of China (Macao Branch), was “Transformation experience of small and micro economies such as Luxemburg: Enlightenment on Macao’s financial development”. The topic of Mr. Lei Chon Io, General Manager of Risk Management Department of ICBC (Macao), was “Macao’s future financial development: credit information platform and wealth management”. Finally, Professor Fu Xiaoqing, from Department of Finance and Business Economics, FBA of University of Macau, made a speech on “Discussion on the construction of intelligent credit reference system in the Greater Bay Area” .
The discussion session followed the speeches of specially invited guests. The guests and audiences had an in-depth discussion on the views and opinions of the speakers, and the atmosphere of interaction and sharing was enthusiastic. Other issues discussed include: What should be the specific direction of Macao’s financial development? Is there enough financial talents in Macao? How to train Macao local financial talents? The workshop successfully collected the industry’s views on the future development of Macao’s financial industry. It is believed that this highly pragmatic and constructive round table conference will play a good role in the long-term development of Macao’s financial industry and provide policy and practical operation suggestions.
