On December 5, 2023, a group of PhD students from the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management (IRTM) of the University of Macau, led by Prof. Anthony Ip Kin Wong of the IRTM Department, came to the Zhuhai Campus of Sun Yat-Sen University to have an exchange meeting with the faculty and students of the School of Tourism of Sun Yat-Sen University.
First of all, Prof. Xiaoming ZHANG, Associate Dean and Professor of the School of Tourism Management of Sun Yat-Sen University, introduced the history and development of the School and its important position in the tourism industry. A Ph.D. student, Chao LIU from the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management of the University of Macau, as the representative of the Department, also introduced the overview of the Department and its achievements and characteristics in teaching, research, and social services in recent years. During the exchange meeting, students from both sides also had active exchanges and sharing. The Ph.D. students discussed the differences and characteristics of the training programs of the two institutions, as well as the difficulties and challenges they encountered during their study and research. The sharing not only broadened the horizons of the students but also enabled the participants to borrow valuable experiences and excellent learning methods from the sharing of other students.
A site tour was arranged at the end of the exchange meeting. Prof. Anthony Ip Kin WONG led the participants to visit the honorary achievements of the School of Tourism Management of Sun Yat-Sen University, the A Zhe Ke program, the facilities of the School and various important locations on campus. The tour not only enriched the participants’ understanding of the college, but also brought them closer to the two Chinese and Macao institutions.
This exchange meeting between the faculty and students of the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management of the University of Macau and the School of Tourism Management of Sun Yat-Sen University set up an important platform for cooperation and exchange between the two institutions. Participating teachers and students not only gained knowledge and experience from the exchange, but also further broadened their academic horizons.
