Synopsis
Root Causes of Hotel Opening Delays
The global hotel industry is exploding. Today, the worldwide hotel pipeline stands at over 12’000 projects, comprising 2.2 million rooms. China has the world’s second biggest development pipelines.
One of the main issues is a major discrepancy between the perceived and actual causes. The main takeaway of this seminar is that a new hotel opening is in fact a project, and must be managed accordingly, using a holistic approach and standard methodology.
A Project Life Cycle for New Hotels
A project life cycle is the series of phases that a project passes through from its initiation to its closure. It is a conceptual model, defining the inter-related phases of a project, and provides a structure for governing the progression of the work.
To plan the project activities in each phase, and coordinate and integrate the interdependencies between each and various phases, a well-rounded project manager with relevant experience, who understands how the phases fit together must be appointed as the first person “on the job.”
