On November 18th, Prof. Soey Sut Ieng LEI and a group of students from Integrated Resort and Tourism Management were invited to visit the garage of SJM Theodore PREMA Racing at the 70th Macau Grand Prix. The event was organized with the assistance of Ms. Yuki Leong, Senior Manager of Training and Development Department and Ms. Sin Tong Cheong, Director of Training and Development Department of SJM Resorts, S.A..
The activity allowed the students to experience the behind-the-scenes preparations of the racing team and gained insights into the operations of the team and the measures taken to protect the safety of the drivers during the races. In the garage, the students watched the inspection and maintenance of the cars by the staff and learned about the warm-up training and psychological adjustment of the drivers before the race. In addition, the students were arranged to meet and communicate with the drivers. They showed great enthusiasm and curiosity to meet the drivers and asked questions about what it is like to be a driver and the training they need. The experience of visiting the Macau Grand Prix not only enabled the students to learn about motor racing but also to experience the culture and charm of racing.
The visit provided a rare learning experience for the students of the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management to support and experience this annual international sports event in Macau in a very special way.
