About Macau

Macau is one of the two special administrative regions of the People’s Republic of China. It lies on the western side of the Pearl River Delta, bordering Zhuhai and is only one-hour away from Hong Kong and Shenzhen by ferry or bus.

Getting to Macao

By Air

  • Macau International Airport (link) offers scheduled flights between major cities in China, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Korea, and Japan, etc.
  • Hong Kong International Airport (link) , airport route ferry and cross-boundary bus services are available for passengers travelling to Macao directly via Hong Kong International Airport.
    • TurboJET offers airport route ferry service between Macao Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal and Skypier at Hong Kong International Airport. Website: www.turbojet.com.hk
    • Macau HK Airport Direct provides cross-boundary bus service between Hong Kong International Airport Sky Pier Terminal and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Macao Port.  The time is approximately 70 minutes. Website: www.macauhkairportbus.com

By Sea

By Land

  • Hong Kong Macau The inauguration of Hong Kong- Zhuhai-Macao Bridge allows tourists to enter Macao by vehicles. Tourists can take shuttle buses to enter Macao.
    • Shuttle Bus provides service connecting Hong Kong and Macao ports.
    • Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Shuttle Bus, website: www.hzmbus.com. Tourists may continue their journey by taxi or bus – routes 101X or 102X once arriving the Macao port.
  • Cross-boundary Coaches provide services between urban areas of Hong Kong and Macao with fixed pick up/drop-off points and fixed schedules.

Local Taxi Information

The taxi in Macao is in black with a cream roof. The flag-fall charge is MOP21.00 for the first 1600 metres, with MOP2.00 added for every 220 metres thereafter. MOP2.00 is charged for waiting every 55 seconds at the passenger’s request. There is a MOP3.00 surcharge for each item of luggage carried in the boot. For radio taxi service, please call +853 8500 0000 / +853 2828 3283.

In addition, there is also a special radio taxi service, which the vehicle is either in blue or red in colour. Passport and VISAs

All visitors must hold a passport or a valid travel document for travel to Macao.

All visitors are required to have a visa except nationals of countries which are exempted from a visa or entry permit. A Macao visa can be obtained through the Embassies / Consulates of the PRC and should be used within its validity. Visitors may also apply for an entry permit or visa upon arrival at the immigration checkpoint.
