A University of Macau (UM) PhD student recently won a best student research paper award at the second Annual International Conference on Accounting and Finance (AF conference), which was organized by the Global Science and Technology Forum (GSTF) in Singapore.

The AF conference is dedicated to promoting accounting and finance research and development and provides a platform for exchange of ideas for academics, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers in these areas. It has attracted many scholars and PhD students from universities in Asia, Europe, Australia and North America. The third AF conference will be held in Bangkok, Thailand, in May 2013.

The awarded paper titled “Government-Business Relationship and Tax Avoidance: Evidence from China” is by Sun Hongyan from the Department of Accounting and Information Management, Faculty of Business Administration. It was supervised by Dr. Xu Zhang.
