About the speakers
Connie Chu, Director, Financial Intelligence Office, Macau SAR (Opening speaker)
Director Ms Connie Chu joined the Financial Intelligence Office right after its establishment in 2006, and had served as functional chief and deputy director. She had taken part in various tasks including operational analysis on Suspicious Transaction Reports, strategic analyses of latest trends and typologies, liaising with international organizations and following up mutual evaluation progress. Ms Chu was highly involved in the AML/CFT/CPF Risk Assessment project and the APG Mutual Evaluation of the Macao, SAR.
Jacky So, Dean of Faculty of Business Administration, University of Macau (Moderator)
Professor Jacky So is the Dean, BNU Chair Professor in Finance of the Faculty of Business Administration at University of Macau and Co-Director of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Economics and Management. He is also the Co-Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Affinity Group (APAG) of AACSB.
Lao Chak Kuong, President of Macau Anti-Money Laundering Specialists Association;
Chief Compliance Officer of Bank of China Macau Branch
Mr Lao has worked in the banking industry since 1977 with more than 40 years in the banking operations with extensive subject matter experience in “Anti-Money Laundering Control”,” Knowing Your Customers ” and ” Transaction diligence Investigation”. He had taken up the role of Risk Director of Bank of China Macau branch since 2008 and was appointed as the Chief Compliance Officer in 2016. Mr Lao achieved Master of Laws degree with graduation thesis in “A comparison in Anti Money Laundering Legislations in global jurisdictions ” and he has been deeply involved in the promotion and education of the awareness of AML across the academic and professional industries in Macau.
Paul Ho, Divisional Deputy President – Greater China, CPA Australia
Paul is a Tax partner in the Financial Services Organisation of EY in Hong Kong with over 17 years of experience in taxation. He is currently the Deputy Divisional President of CPA Australia Greater China and Deputy Chairperson of the Taxation Committee of CPA Australia Great China.
Manhim Yu, Partner – Fraud Investigation & Dispute Services, EY
Manhim is a Partner with the Fraud Investigation & Dispute Services practice at EY. He has over 18 years of experience in financial crime investigations, banking fraud, corruption and bribery, money laundering cases as well as fraud risk management. He’s a Certified Member of CFE and Fellow of CAMS.
