As part of the Visiting Scholar Seminar Series, Prof. Fuxiu JIANG gave a seminar “Understanding Corporate Governance in China” on September 4. Prof. Jason XIAO, Head of Department of AIM chaired the seminar. Prof. JIANG’s seminar discussed the uniqueness of corporate governance in China from eight aspects: large shareholders, institutional investors, board of directors, managerial incentives, information intermediaries, laws and regulations, three types of markets. Over 50 professors and PhD students participated in the seminar. During and after the seminar, many participants asked questions, to which Prof. Jiang responded. Prof. JIANG engaged in further discussions and explored future research with Professors in Accounting and the FBA PhD students on September 5.
Prof. Fuxiu JIANG is a Professor of Finance in the School of Business at Renmin University of China. His research areas of interest are in corporate governance and corporate finance. His papers have been published in the Review of Financial Studies, Review of Finance, Journal of Corporate Finance, etc. He has also published several textbooks, including Corporate Governance in China: Fundamental Principles and Chinese Characteristics, Corporate Governance in China: Literature Review and Future Research Directions, Corporate Governance in China: Western Theory and Chinese Practice, etc.
