Liu Nian, a Ph. D. student and Yang Qichen, a graduate, both from the Department of Business Economics, whose team “BrainLightning” won the first prize at the 2021 “Maker in Guangdong” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition of Zhuhai city on 8 September.
Their project, entitled “Wearable stroke diagnosis cloud platform”, addresses the rapid identification of stroke types. It is based on an early stroke diagnostic device, invented by Dr. Liang Tan, to provide a solution for patients throughout the stroke development process. The team also having gained the championship of this year’s Bank of China Trophy Macao Regional Entrepreneurship Competition, this project presents a fruitful exploration for business students to commercialize technological achievements, under the guidance of Prof. Guoqiang Li and Prof. Feng Wan.
“Maker in Guangdong” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition of Zhuhai City is hosted by the Zhuhai Industry and Information Technology Bureau and the Xiangzhou District People’s Government, which this year has attracted 183 outstanding projects across the country including 10 projects from Hong Kong and Macao. It is designed to stimulate entrepreneurship and drive high-quality development of manufacturing industry with innovation.
