On the morning of May 23, 2023, around 30 students from HKWMA Chu Shek Lun Secondary School visited the University of Macau accompanied by their teachers, and experienced the Café Lab, the Gaming Laboratory and the Mock Hotel Rooms and other teaching facilities of the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management. The students encountered the specific course of this major, and they extended their awareness and knowledge of the hospitality and tourism industry.
Prof. Lawrence FONG, Associate Professor of the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management, welcome the visiting teachers and students at the Hospitality Laboratory as representative. He introduced the history of the University of Macau and the Bachelor Programme of International Integrated Resort Management in detail. Students also enthusiastically inquired about their ideal university experience. Afterwards, the teachers and students visited many simulated teaching sites of the department, including the Café Lab, where they tried to grind coffee beans by hand, the Gaming Laboratory, where they got close to the real casino operation environment, and the Mock Hotel Rooms, where they learned about the daily maintenance of guest housing.
As a unique course within the faculty, the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management is committed to nurturing high-level professionals for the industry. The characteristics and professional advantages of the department were further publicized during this campus visit, and secondary school students had the opportunity to experience the UM’s excellent teaching environment as well as the unique charm of the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management.
