On 6 June, the highly anticipated 2024 Asian IR Summit has successfully concluded. The summit brought together industry leaders and experts in the hotel field, focusing on four major themes: IR Focus, Art Integration, Sports, and Entertainment, discussing new trends and future directions in industry development. Prof. Davis Ka Chio FONG, Director of the Institute for the Study of Commercial Gaming at the University of Macau and Professor of the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management, and Prof. Glenn James McCartney, Associate Dean (Curriculum and Teaching) of the Faculty of Business Administration and Associate Professor of the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management were invited to participate in several panel discussion sessions.
During the summit, Prof. Davis Ka Chio FONG and industry experts discussed the importance of sustainable tourism and the future of the hotel industry around the theme of ESG practices in the hotel industry.
Prof. Glenn James McCartney had an in-depth exchange of views with some industry leaders on the latest trends in the tourism industry and the integration strategy of tourism and sports.
In addition, master’s and PhD students from the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management also actively participated in the summit, listening to many cutting-edge perspectives and valuable suggestions, which sparked their keen interest in developing the tourism and sports industries.
