On November 28th, Professor Sacha Reid and Assistant Professor Yawei Jiang from Griffith University were invited to visit the University of Macau, with the aim of deepening academic exchanges and cooperation between the two universities.
Professor Sacha Reid is currently the Head of the Department of Tourism, Sport and Hospitality Management at Griffith University, where her research interests include social and affordable housing, high-rise and strata title (apartments) living and the sociological aspects of increasing densities. Prof. Yawei Jiang, as an Assistant Professor and Lecturer of the Department, her research interests cover the areas of tourism crisis and disaster management, risk communication, organizational/employee resilience, dynamic capabilities, stakeholder collaboration, and strategic management. The visit of these two scholars demonstrates the University’s positive attitude and cooperative spirit in promoting academic research and international exchange.
On the day of the visit, Prof. Sacha Reid and Prof. Yawei Jiang participated in a seminar with students and faculty members. During the seminar, they delivered wonderful speeches on their respective research specialties and shared their latest research results and academic insights. The enthusiastic response and active interaction between the participants not only deepened their understanding of each other’s academic research but also laid a solid foundation for future cooperation.
After that, Prof. Sacha Reid and Prof. Yawei Jiang, accompanied by Arthur Wong, a PhD student of the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management, visited the campus of the University of Macau. During the visit, they highly appreciated the hardware facilities and the strong academic atmosphere of the University.
After the visit, Prof. Sacha Reid and Prof. Yawei Jiang had an in-depth discussion with Prof. Amy Siu Ian SO, Prof. Yuansi HOU and Prof. Soey Sut Ieng LEI of the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management. They had a comprehensive discussion on the direction of academic construction in their respective institutions and possible future cooperation projects, laying a good foundation for further deepening the cooperation between the two sides.
