The University of Macau (UM) successfully hosted the “HSBC/UM Macau Business Case Competition 2025” on March 22, 2025. This prestigious competition has been held for two consecutive years, jointly organized by UM’s Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) and the Centre for Tourism and Integrated Resort Studies (CTIRS), and sponsored by the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC) Macau Branch. The competition aims to further deepen students’ understanding and mastery of business knowledge through the in-depth analysis of real business cases, as well as to promote inter-university academic exchanges and close contact with the business industry.
The competition attracted a total of 14 elite teams from three different universities, among which there were many outstanding teams of students from the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management. After a fierce competition, braInstOrm team comprised of Giulian, Ai YANG (International Integrated Resort Management), Martin, Mutian WANG (Business Intelligence and Data Analytics), Nicole, Zijie ZHUANG (International Integrated Resort Management), and Lich, Zijun ZHOU (Financial Controllership) stood out and successfully advanced to the final round of the competition. In the final, they analyzed an unpublished business case in depth and thoroughly within 3 hours, proposed a practical solution, and gave an excellent presentation to an authoritative judging panel comprising senior executives from HSBC Macau. In addition, the Doubletony team, comprising students Huang Ziling, CHIO PUI KIT WAI and ZAI TONG from the DRTM, also demonstrated extraordinary strength and style in the competition and won the Merit Award!
The prize presentation ceremony was conducted on the same day and featured the participation of Mr. Henry Chow and Prof. Jun Yu, Dean of the FBA at UM, who proudly presented the awards to the winning teams. The HSBC/UM Macau Business Case Competition 2025 was a remarkable success, providing a valuable platform for students from various universities in Macau to connect, learn, and grow together. Prof. Amy So, the Assistant Dean (Business Engagement and Alumni Affairs) of FBA, Director of CTIRS at UM, representing the Organizing Committee, affirmed that FBA would remain dedicated to nurturing the next generation of business leaders and contributing to the ongoing development of Macau’s business community.
