Recently, students from the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management, led by Assistant Professor Prof. Jacey Ja Young CHOE, embarked on a study tour to Wynn Palace, where they experienced not only the charm of a luxury hotel but also the integration of sustainable development elements.
On the day of the event, the students were honored to listen to a speech by Mr. Guilherme Martins. With his industry experience and insights, Mr. Martins gave the students an in-depth analysis of the importance of food sustainability in the tourism industry and its challenges. He emphasized that incorporating food safety, quality and sustainability into the luxury guest experience is the key to enhancing the overall competitiveness of the tourism industry.
Afterward, the students then visited a number of highlight areas. They first came to the Nordaq 2000 automated water bottling system to witness the efficient and environmentally friendly automatic bottling process. Next, the students walked through the Winnow Al Food Waste Management System, where they learned about the system’s outstanding performance in reducing food waste and improving resource utilization.
In the Food Safety Laboratory, students learned about Wynn Palace’s tireless efforts to ensure the safety of our guests’ food and beverage consumption, and the significant results achieved. The Vertical Garden and Green Education Wall demonstrated the company’s unique concepts and practices in ecological and environmental protection and sustainable development.
The visit not only broadened the students’ horizons and knowledge, but also aroused their interest in the sustainable development of food in the tourism industry. Last but not least, the DRTM would like to express sincere gratitude to Mr. Guilherme Martins and the related departments for their invaluable support and careful arrangements for this event.
