On November 20, Mr. Stephen L. Martino, Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer of MGM Resorts International, was invited to the Development of Games and Gambling classroom to share his industry insights with the students. Mr. Martino elaborated on the resort’s efforts and initiatives in promoting responsible gaming.
During the sharing, Mr. Martino mentioned that in recent years, the resort has made efforts to alert players to common gambling addictions and prevent them from falling into the wrong cognitive misunderstanding through the extensive publicity of responsible gambling and the placement of relevant advertisements. Through these publicity efforts, the resort hopes that players will be able to remain rational.
Mr. Martino also emphasized that gaming operators play a crucial role in the industry and should actively encourage players to adopt the “play for fun” concept. Only when players see gaming as more of a form of entertainment rather than a major source of wealth will the industry be able to embark on a sustainable development path.
During the Q&A session, students showed great enthusiasm and actively asked questions to the guest speaker. They explored various aspects of responsible gaming in-depth, and through this interactive session, the students gained a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding of responsible gaming.
