On March 18, 2025, FBA Seminar Series: “Tourism research in China: Development trends, challenges and opportunities” by Prof. Songshan HUANG was hosted by Prof. Li MIAO from the Department of Integrated Resorts and Tourism Management and delivered by Prof. Songshan HUANG from Edith Cowan University, Australia.

Prof. Songshan HUANG’s explored the knowledge evolution and academic frontiers of tourism research in China, emphasizing the paradigm shift in research themes from resource development and industrial economics to digital transformation and sustainable tourism. He also highlighted the innovative trend of integrating quantitative models with qualitative research methodologies in tourism studies. Professor HUANG provided an in-depth analysis of the challenges faced by Chinese tourism research, particularly in theoretical localization and interdisciplinary collaborative innovation. Concurrently, he identified contemporary opportunities such as digital technology empowerment and cultural-tourism integration policies.
