In order to further broaden their academic horizons and strengthen the ties with the industry and partner institutions, the faculty of the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management embarked on a study tour to the Hilton Zhuhai and the School of Tourism Management of Sun Yat-sen University at the end of the semester. The study tour was not only an in-depth exploration of the current state of the industry, but also a positive outlook on the future cooperation and development of the department.
The first stop was Hilton Zhuhai. With the assistance and reception of Angel Du, General Manager of Hilton Zhuhai, Janice Ho, Owner’s Representative, Ken Kang, Sales Manager, Sonia Li, Commercial Director, Dong Yu, Banquet Sales Director and other colleagues, the teachers visited the hotel’s bar and guest rooms. Through the site visit, the teachers gained a more intuitive and in-depth understanding of the hotel’s operation. Afterward, the two sides held a face-to-face meeting and had in-depth exchanges and discussions on various aspects of hotel management. This meeting not only deepened the close relationship between the two sides, but also laid a solid foundation for future cooperation with industry practices.
In the afternoon, the teachers of the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management went to the School of Tourism Management at Sun Yat-sen University to visit the Key Laboratory of Sustainable Tourism Intelligent Measurement and Evaluation Technology of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, where they learned about the technological support provided by the laboratory for the sustainable development of the tourism industry. In addition, the teachers also visited the Azhuke Exhibition Hall and highly appreciated the achievements of tourism development displayed there.
Our teachers were warmly received by Prof. Honggang XU, Dean of the School of Tourism Management of Sun Yat-sen University, Prof. Jiuxia SUN, Prof. Zhang Xiaoming, Associate Prof. Huang Tuowei, Associate Prof. Zhao Ying, and Associate Prof. Li Jie, etc. The two sides had an in-depth discussion on the latest research results, teaching experiences, and future cooperation direction of tourism management.
