On 20 April, under the guidance of Prof. Amy Siu Ian SO, Assistant Dean (International and External Relations) of the Faculty of Business Administration, Director of the Centre for Tourism and Integrated Resort Studies and Associate Professor of the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management, the department’s Year 2 students successfully organized a conference with the theme of “Beyond Graduation: Navigating Tourism and Hospitality Career Paths for Students”. The event provided an in-depth introduction to the current development and future trends of Macau’s hospitality industry, especially the integrated resort industry, as well as career opportunities, and attracted the active participation of more than 60 students from 12 secondary schools in Macau.

The conference featured a wide range of industry experts, including Ms. Joyce Wong (Executive Director, Training, Learning Academy, Melco), Ms. Kitty Kuong (Senior Manager of Strategic Analytics, SJM Resorts), Ms. Rebecca Tam (Director Learning & Development, SJM Resorts) and Mr. Valentino Lam (Manager of Arena Operations, Entertainment Services, Galaxy Entertainment Group). They each shared their insights and experiences in the industry. In addition, two alumni of the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management, Mr. Luca Kou (President, Tourism, Convention and Hospitality Society), and Ms. Mandy Lam (Former President, Tourism, Convention and Hospitality Society), also shared their learning journeys with the students, demonstrating the diversity of the industry and its growth potential.

With the support of the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management of the Faculty of Business Administration, the Centre for Tourism and Integrated Resort Studies, Melco, and the residential colleges on campus, the students organized an impressive conference. Year 3 and Year 4 students also participated in the event as student leaders, conveying professional knowledge about the hospitality industry and the importance of linking theory to practice, making the event more interesting and useful.
