On January 17, 2026, thirty-two students from the Faculty of Business Administration at the University of Macau embarked on a unique learning journey—an educational visit to Hong Kong Disneyland, meticulously arranged by the Centre for Tourism and Integrated Resort Studies (CTIRS). The activity was personally led by Associate Professor Amy Siu Ian SO, Director of CTIRS and Associate Dean (Business and Alumni Affairs), together with Assistant Professor Soey Sut Ieng LEI from the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management. The purpose was to enable students to gain an in-depth understanding of the service culture and operational model of a world-class themed resort through immersive experiences.

In specially designed workshops, students engaged in close exchanges with Disney cast members, including Mr. Yan, Area Manager of the Food and Beverage Department. They shared Disney’s core values—embracing challenges with a positive attitude, continuously improving personal capabilities, and skillfully weaving “storytelling” into every service detail.

Through interactive activities, students not only experienced how Disney seamlessly integrates exceptional service with innovative operations, but also gained deeper insights into the managerial wisdom behind “guest experience.” These exchanges provided them with a more comprehensive understanding of the operations of large-scale theme parks and integrated resorts.

Beyond learning about operational models, the visit also became an important opportunity for self-reflection. From shaping professional image, discovering personal strengths, to contemplating career planning, the Disney experience offered valuable inspiration.

Many students expressed in their reflections that this journey gave them a clearer sense of direction and motivated them to pursue higher goals in their future studies and career paths.

By stepping into a world-class themed resort, students not only acquired knowledge beyond the classroom but also gained rare, practical insights. This visit was more than a learning journey—it was an experience where dreams and reality intertwined, empowering future managers to draw strength from both magic and innovation.
