APacCHRIE 2027 is the premier international academic conference in the field of tourism and hospitality management across the Asia-Pacific region. In November 2025, the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management at the University of Macau launched a logo and mascot design competition open to all enrolled students to celebrate the conference’s hosting at the university, seeking outstanding design submissions. Following the launch, students from various faculties enthusiastically participated, submitting numerous innovative and well-executed designs that demonstrated their ability to integrate professional expertise with visual language. The judging panel rigorously evaluated entries across five dimensions: creative expression, thematic relevance, distinctive features, overall aesthetic appeal, and practicality, ultimately selecting the award winners.

During the awards ceremony, the jury announced the winners and provided critiques of the winning entries. The First Prize was awarded to Peng Chi ChengandCheong Weng Chi. Their design excelled in thematic refinement and visual identity: The logo features a clean, powerful form, using a global grid pattern to symbolize the “Connecting Asia-Pacific” vision. It cleverly integrates the Macau Tower with Portuguese-style tile motifs, encapsulating the city’s heritage and embodying its unique blend of Eastern and Western cultural characteristics. The mascot “Shengsheng” is depicted as a plump, approachable chick wearing a lotus flower symbolizing upward growth. Its blue-and-white tile-patterned sash echoes the logo system, creating a highly recognizable and artistically compelling overall design.

The second prize was awarded to Shen Xinnan, while the third prize was shared by Xu Yuming and Yang Shuyuan. Their designs ingeniously blend conference theme elements with iconic Macao landmarks, excelling in graphic language and narrative depth. These works effectively interpret the conference’s spirit while showcasing the ingenuity and imagination of young creators.

Several Excellence Awards were also presented to commend outstanding entries demonstrating both potential and adaptability in conceptualization, narrative presentation, and application. Recipients include Fung Chi Lan, Huang Runyu, Kao Ka Kei, Lam Hoi Lan, Lang Yuting, U Hio Lan, Lam Pui Chi, Ho Ka Wai, Ye Jingwen, and Zhong Qianqian were honored with this distinction. Each student’s work displayed a distinct style, some emphasizing symbolism and geometric composition, others enhancing approachability and interactivity, showcasing diverse visual interpretations of the APacCHRIE theme.

The ceremony atmosphere was vibrant. Teachers noted in their critiques that the entries demonstrated strong innovation and high design standards, fully reflecting the participants’ solid design skills and outstanding creative thinking. Multiple award winners shared their creative processes—from research and sketching to finalization—offering fellow students valuable insights into methodologies and practical experience.

This competition and awards ceremony not only created a platform for creative exchange among students across disciplines but also provided a rich visual asset library for the successful execution of APacCHRIE 2027.
