On March 12, 2025, the QS World University Rankings released its latest list. For the third consecutive year, the University of Macau (UM) has been ranked within the top 100 globally in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025 for Hospitality and Leisure Management, achieving a ranking of 51-100. This accomplishment further solidifies the University’s position as a leading institution in the field of tourism and hospitality management.

As a young and vibrant department established in March 2019, the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management (DRTM) at the Faculty of Business Administration has been committed to advancing knowledge and innovation, and has rapidly gained recognition on the global academic stage. DRTM is dedicated to the concept of interdisciplinary teaching and learning, skillfully blending theoretical research with practical application. Through the carefully designed curriculum, students are able to gain a deeper understanding of the industry’s mode of operation and master cutting-edge management skills, thus laying a solid foundation for students to be able to excel in the ever-changing tourism and hospitality industry.

The consistent presence of DRTM in the top 100 of the QS World University Rankings reflects that the tireless efforts of DRTM’s faculty, staff, and students in striving for excellence have been recognized by its industry partners, employers, and academic peers. Moving forward, DRTM will continue to focus on pushing the boundaries of knowledge and innovation in tourism and hospitality management to better serve the community.

The QS World University Rankings, starting from 2011, measures and ranks the performance of global universities in relevant subjects based on indicators such as academic reputation, employer reputation, and research quality. It is one of the oldest and most influential university rankings in the world.
