FBA Salon Series on Tourism+: “Flexwork and Flextravel” was hosted by Prof. Faye Feier CHEN, Assistant Professor of the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management on September 4, 2024 and PhD student Qiao ZHANG at the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management, was invited to be the keynote speaker.
Qiao ZHANG shared her participation in a research project titled “Flexwork and Flextravel” under the guidance of Professor Li MIAO to construct a theoretical framework for this emerging phenomenon. First, Zhang Qiao led a review and clarification of several hybrid tourism models in existing literature, laying the foundation for accurately grasping the uniqueness of the new work-travel model. Subsequently, by reviewing relevant literature, she identified three key dimensions: Temporality, Spatiality, and Liminality, which together form the theoretical framework for understanding and analyzing emerging flexwork and flextravel.
