Three new faculty members joined the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management in Academic Year 2022/2023. With impressive academic credentials and extensive international experience, they further strengthen the teaching and research expertise in the Department.

Professor Yuansi Hou, Associate Professor in International Integrated Resort Management, obtained her PhD degree in Business Administration from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Bachelor of Business Administration from Fudan University. Prior to joining UM, Prof. Hou served on the faculty of  the School of Business and Management of the Queen Mary University of London as Reader in Marketing and Programme Director of Marketing MSc. Previously, she was an Assistant Professor in Marketing at Business School, Durham University, and Lecturer in Service Marketing at the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, University of Surrey. Prof. Hou is an active services marketing researcher and specializes in consumer psychology research by using lab and field experiments, particularly her research interests focus on three themes: environmental psychology and social cognition; experiential consumption & sensory marketing, and service technology and AI. She has published in top-tier journals in both marketing and tourism/hospitality areas, such as Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of Travel Research, Tourism Management, Annals of Tourism Research, Journal of Vocational Behavior.

Professor Huiling Huang, Assistant Professor in International Integrated Resort Management, obtained her PhD degree in Hospitality Management from the Ohio State University. Her teaching profession began as a Teaching Assistant at the Ohio State University in 2018, and she served as a Graduate Instructor in the Hospitality Management program at the Ohio State University from 2019 to 2021. Her research interests focus on service marketing, technological innovations such as robotics and artificial intelligence, and sustainable tourism. In 2021, she received the Best Paper Award at the 27th Asia Pacific Tourism Association (APTA) Annual Conference, Thailand, and in the same year, she also received the Joseph J. and Nina Mae Mattus Fellowship and the Big Dish Leadership Award in the Ohio State University.

Professor Faye Feier Chen, Assistant Professor in International Integrated Resort Management, obtained her PhD degree in Hospitality Management from the Pennsylvania State University. Prior to joining UM, Prof. Chen served as a Graduate Instructor in the School of Hospitality Management at the Pennsylvania State University from 2020 to 2021. Her areas of research include consumer behavior in tourism and hospitality, service technology and artificial intelligence, and online reviews and advertisements. Prof. Chen was awarded the Best Paper Award at the 27th Annual Graduate Education and Graduate Student Research Conference in Hospitality and Tourism in 2022.
