Major Declaration Period
- 27/10/2025 – 07/11/2025
Target
- C4-intake GBS22 students with a cumulative GPA of 1.80 or above, and
- Students who transferred to GBS in the previous academic year.
General Business Studies
- For students who want to gain knowledge in business without being constrained by a major.
- Students will be automatically assigned to General Business Studies if they:
- Do NOT achieve a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above after the final examination of this semester, or
- Do NOT declare their majors (an incomplete major declaration form is submitted, or major declaration form is not submitted)

Declaration Procedures
- Download and complete Major Declaration Form for BBA Programme [FBA/Form/005] from the FBA website (link).

- Prioritize your choices by ranking all majors from 1 to 6 (1 as 1st choice and 6 as last choice).
- Students declaring Global Business Management as 1st, 2nd or 3rd choices should also complete GBM Major Declaration [FBA/Form/083] available at the FBA website (link), and submit it along with the Major Declaration Form.
- Submit the completed form(s) to FBA as follows during the major declaration period, which is 27/10/2025 – 07/11/2025.

- Non-office hours: Drop-off box outside FBA General Office (E22-G031)
Results of Major Declaration
- Major will be assigned based on the cumulative GPA up to this semester (i.e. academic results of this semester will be counted).
- Students who select certain major as their 1st choice will be given priority. Other students who declare it as 2nd choice and lower will only be considered if there are free seats left.
- If the number of students declaring a specific major as their 1st choice exceeds the major’s quota, students with lower cumulative GPA will be looped to other choices according to stated priority, subject to the remaining quota of each major.
- Students with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above after the final examination of this semester AND who have submitted COMPLETED major declaration forms will be assigned to a major according to their declaration. Otherwise, they will be assigned to General Business Studies automatically.
- Results will be released on the FBA e-notice board in January 2026.
Transfer of Programme/Major
- Students who later think the chosen/assigned major is not suitable for them can apply for transfer of programme/major during the relevant application period. Students are NOT allowed to apply for transfer of major within the BBA programme in the 2nd semester of academic year 2025/2026.
- A student is allowed only one approved transfer of programme/major during their undergraduate studies at UM. Please refer to the Registry homepage (link) for details.
