On 4 November 2025, the Global Business Management (GBM) Programme proudly hosted its annual GBM Night, bringing together prospective students, current GBM students, alumni and faculty for an evening of sharing and connection. The event aimed to introduce the GBM curriculum, showcase student learning experiences, and highlight the diverse academic and career pathways supported by the programme.

The evening opened with remarks from Programme Coordinator, Prof. Iris Yuan, who provided an overview of the GBM Programme. She introduced its core features, including its international focus, analytical skill development and interdisciplinary training. Prof. Yuan also outlined the range of career opportunities that GBM graduates pursue across multinational corporations, consulting, finance, government and entrepreneurship.

This was followed by a talk from Prof. Javier Cuervo, who discussed the advantages of GBM’s case-based and practice-oriented teaching approach. To illustrate how coursework connects with real-world decision-making, he introduced a business case used in his class and explained how it encourages students to apply strategic thinking in global contexts.

The programme then highlighted student and alumni voices. A Year 4 GBM student shared her exchange study experience at KU Leuven Brussels campus, reflecting on how the academic environment and cultural exposure broadened her international mindset and strengthened her ability to adapt to global environments. Next, GBM alumna Agnes Wong, who is currently pursuing her Master’s degree at The University of Hong Kong, spoke about how the GBM Programme equipped her with essential communication, analytical and problem-solving skills that supported both her postgraduate application and academic transition.

Additionally, two Management PhD students shared their study experiences in the UK and the US, offering insights into doctoral research, overseas study life and preparation strategies for students considering outgoing exchange and further academic pursuits.

The event concluded with a networking dinner, where students, alumni and faculty engaged in open conversations and exchanged experiences in a relaxed atmosphere. Participants commented that the event strengthened their understanding of the GBM Programme and inspired them to further explore future academic and career possibilities.

GBM Night 2025 once again demonstrated the strong sense of community within the GBM Programme and its commitment to cultivating globally minded business talent.
