Abstract
In recent years, the abuse of painkillers has posed a great challenge to public health and life expectancy. Using prescription-level data, this study investigates the influence of the stock market on public health. This research has implications for health policymakers, economists, and social science scholars.

Ning is an empirical capital market researcher. He is interested in the role of information and financial reporting incentives in financial markets.
