My experience at BI redefined academic freedom: it’s an environment where boundless creative freedom thrives. Whether you have unconventional business concepts or innovative solutions, BI provides the platform to transform ideas into reality. Besides, professors here are approachable mentors who actively nurture your potential, offering unreserved guidance. Moreover, engaging with peers worldwide allowed me to witness the fascinating interplay between Norwegian cultures and global perspectives.

This was the first time I lived far away from home for such a long time. I became more independent and confident, especially when working with experienced students. I also had many chances to introduce Macau to others. Many had never heard of it, so I told them about our culture, food, UM’s 10 residential colleges, and the big labs we have. Some even said they wanted to visit one day. I highly recommend the exchange programme to every UM student. It’s a unique chance to meet international friends, grow personally, and gain real-world experience. Everyone you meet on exchange is open and friendly, and every day brings something new.

Being able to study in Europe with students from all over the world, and travel to other countries with friends at 20 is something so precious. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience to explore the world with curiosity, enthusiasm, and adventure. The memories, friendships, and stories from this journey will stay with me forever, and I feel very fortunate that I got to experience all this so early in my life. Emotionally, this this exchange helped me grow in ways I never imagined. It made me more independent, self-reflective, and thankful for the world around me. The pride of which is living in a foreign country, academic achievement, and building a life abroad was extremely rewarding.

I would say the whole exchange experience met my expectations. From meeting new people to experiencing the things the country has to offer, I was also able to take a glance at the American corporate culture by going to places like New York City and Philadelphia. Academically, there are some differences in terms of professor’s teaching styles, most often they like to have discussions with students rather than just saying things from the powerpoint. Therefore, everyone usually participates in class and it is like having casual conversations with the professors. This whole exchange experience in the US was both challenging and inspiring.

I took classes such as “Corporate Strategy in Europe” and “Industrial Relations in Europe” that broadened my global business knowledge and perspective. UCL also has the most Kots à project (KAP) in Belgium with about 100 on my campus. They are essentially student led clubs/housing that all have a focus on different interests such as art, music, language, etc. They are super friendly and love hosting events, so there was never a dull day on campus. I was able to make both international and local friends because of this — some of which I’ve already reunited with when they visited Macau!
