Abstract
Hyojin shares why she strives to be humble, respectful, and grateful while cycling. Her journey was challenging, and she felt vulnerable on the road. Sometimes, she had to ask for help – like when the sun set, and she had nowhere to sleep. She had to rely on people to pitch her tent in their yard, which made her appreciate their kindness and humility. During her travels, she received invitations from people of different cultures. This allowed her to understand and respect their way of life, realizing that many things that seem different are not necessarily wrong. Every night while camping alone in nature, Hyojin felt scared. However, every morning, she was relieved and grateful to be alive.

Hyojin was born in South Korea. She went to Canada on a Working Holiday Visa when she was 24 years old. While there, she hitchhiked from west to east and survived four months on the road. She settled in Yellowknife to see the Northern Lights and decided to travel the world to learn about different cultures and meet new people. She started cycling in September 2011 through North America, Central America, South America, Africa, Europe, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, Oceania, and East Asia. In 2023, She returned home. She is currently cycling around her home country.
