The University of Macau (UM) today (27 March) held an inauguration ceremony for its Currency Museum at the Faculty of Business Administration. The museum houses a collection of rare coins and banknotes, including those from the times of ancient China and the Republic of China, as well as limited editions of contemporary banknotes, and circulating currencies. Besides the long history of Chinese and foreign currencies, the exhibition also presents the history of currencies found in Western countries and Asia, including mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao, and provides an insight into the development of Macao’s banking industry. The ceremony attracted faculty members, students, and guests from various government departments, banks, hotels, and academic societies. The museum will be open to the public starting 9 April. The opening hours are from 10:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.
