On 25th September 2019, the Department of Accounting and Information Management (AIM) of the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) of the University of Macau (UM) invited representatives from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants of the UK (ACCA) to present an Information Seminar for our FBA students. The Information Seminar was a great success and attracted many of our students. In the seminar, the ACCA representatives introduced the “Accelerate program” which allowed our students to sit for their professional examinations during their studies in the University. They introduced the structure of the professional examinations and certification. Students were very enthusiastic and interested in the “Accelerate program”. Students asked questions about the program fees and many students had signed up for registration. The seminar was very beneficial for our students as they could sit the examinations during their studies in the University. That could enhance their competitiveness and employability in the job market after they graduated.

Professor Jean Chen, Dean of FBA, Chair Professor in Accounting and Finance and FCPA, who has been an enthusiastic promoter of professional accounting accreditations, delivered an inspiring speech at the opening ceremony. She commented that our accounting program had achieved the maximum exemption of papers from major international accounting bodies such as the ACCA, the Certified Practicing Accountants of Australia (CPA Australia), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants of the UK and the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants. All these accreditations consolidated the international recognition of our accounting program and excelled our accounting program as the frontiers among the universities in the Greater Bay Area and mainland China. She has also highly valued FBA professional accreditation team led by Professor Philip Law and the collaboration with ACCA which set up an excellent example of modern business education.
