Session 1: Big data enabled intelligent financial service
Abstract
This is a research project proposal of the speaker. Firstly, the background of the project is presented, including the applicant, the market analysis and competitor’s analysis. Then, a few proposed services and their distinguishing features are presented. A few key technologies of this proposal are presented, including Privacy and security of Internet information services, Multi-agent supported Internet information services, Big-data recognition based intelligent decision support and Common-sense knowledge based text mining. Finally, a case study will be presented. It is a real-world research project, titled “Intelligent Text Mining Based Financial Risk Early Warning System”. This project was designed for a supply-chain finance company to have better financial risk management.

Abstract
This seminar will review the AlphaGo event, where the AlphaGo of Google beat a Go World Champion, Mr. Lee Sedol. Meanwhile, the Watson event will also be reviewed, where the Watson of IBM beat world champions in the Jeopardy TV competition. These events may be the prelude of the new AI era. A few related papers from Science and Nature will also be discussed. Then, the vision of AI+Finance will be presented. Then, a few research projects by the speaker will be presented. The first project is a Financial Process Risk Monitoring system, where intelligent agents are adopted to detect frauds, to analyze credit and position risks, etc. The second one is the Exception management in securities trading, and the third project is the Intelligent Family Wealth Management. Finally, the project “A Big-Data Based Intelligent Market Surveillance System” will be presented in details.

A Short Biography of Prof. Huaiqing WANG
Dr. Huaiqing Wang is a professor at SUSTech. He is also the Honorary Dean of the School of Information Engineering, Wuhan University of Technology, China. He was a professor in the Department of Information Systems at City University of Hong Kong from 1994 to 2011. He obtained his PhD from University of Manchester in UK in 1987. His research interests include intelligent financial systems, intelligent decision support, knowledge management systems, internet and big-data finance and conceptual modelling and ontology. He has published more than 80 SCI/SSCI journal papers, and obtained more than 1400 citations. His SCI H-index is 21. His project “Information hiding and monitoring in the network environment” received the 2nd Award of Natural Science from Shanghai Government. He is one of the Most Cited Chinese Researchers of 2014 and 2015 by Elsevier.
