The University of Macau’s (UM) Faculty of Business Administration recently held a closing ceremony for its Summer Hospitality Training Programme 2013.

Launched in May 2013, the one-month  programme aimed to provide special training to second-year students of the Hospitality and Gaming Management programme (convention and hospitality stream), with focus on techniques which are necessary in providing quality service to customers, as well as on some key practical skills required of practitioners of the hospitality sector. The courses were conducted in collaboration with major players of the local hospitality industry, including the City of Dreams, for greater relevance and up-to-date understanding of the present needs of the industry.
The programme included four modules, namely Event and Conference Practicum Training, Business Etiquette Training, Formal Protocol Training and Wine and Food Pairing, and Hospitality Service Training.  Students also participated in the Conference Ambassador Programme and helped with the Fourth International Youth Conference of the Asia Pacific Chapter of the Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education, during the Event Practicum Training module. During the closing ceremony students played videos produced by themselves to showcase what they had learned from the programme.
